Frequently asked questions

At KT’s Massage & Yoga we focus on function, safe alignment, and the purpose behind the pose, with classes sequenced carefully to specifically build on your current strength and flexibility, especially where it is needed most in your everyday lives - not on what it or you look like, our goal is always to focus on how each pose feels.

Classes are fun, friendly, professional, meaningful, and aim to be accessible to all no matter your fitness level, always with variations and options to challenge yourself physically and mentally.

Membership FAQ

  • What does it mean to be a member of KT’s Massage & Yoga Family?

It means joining an online community of fellow Yogis where you can be supported, encouraged, and inspired to begin or continue your Yoga journey - when it suits you, in your own time and from the comfort of your own home. We also have a private Facebook Group so you can connect with your fellow online Yoga buddies, ask questions, make requests, talk about your favourite classes or poses, or simply to say hi! We are looking forward to hearing from you :)

  • What are your Yoga classes like?

Each class begins with an opening meditation to calm and center yourself to get ready for your practice, followed by a quick warm up to prepare for our class theme, then the main theme of the class, then a short cool down before settling into our final meditation and rest (everyone’s favourite part!) - savasana. Not sure if this is what you are looking for? Ask me about a free 7 day trial to see if this is right for you.

Yes you are! All classes have a range of modifications/variations to suit any ability level so you can feel good about challenging yourself, no matter where you are at physically or fitness wise. If you have a specific injury limiting your movement I’m always happy to discuss alternate poses, or ways you can still make the most of each class. Head over to my contact page to find ways to connect.

  • How many online classes/videos do you have?

There are roughly 30 classes available at this time.

  • How long does each online class go for?

Currently each class will be around 60 minutes. To feel the full effect including time for savasana and meditation I encourage you to set aside at least an hour for yourself to enjoy. I understand some of you may be extremely time poor, but still want to enjoy as much time on your Yoga mat as you can - if you would like to request shorter videos e.g. 20, 30 or 40 mins etc please don’t hesitate to ask and I will try to accommodate

  • What if I have never done a Yoga class before?

Perfect! Let’s start from the beginning. Start with the intro to Yoga classes to build up the basics for a solid and life long Yoga practice. I’ve also got some really handy pose guides on my blog which you can read to give you a break down of how to do common poses, common mistakes and how to nail your alignment no matter what.

  • Do I need to spend a lot of money on Yoga equipment/props?

Ideally you will need a Yoga mat, 2 x blocks and sometimes a strap, I also love love love my bolster, and knee cushions are great for anyone with sensitive knees that need a bit more support, but you can still successfully do the class without those extra props. A Yoga mat is at least the very minimum required, blocks and straps are not strictly required, but they sure do help make poses more accessible, or sometimes more challenging! I would highly recommend grabbing 2 x blocks, (I picked up a couple of blocks from Kmart for $5 each - and they came with a strap!) all my other Yoga props, bolsters etc I have collected over the years, (hello Christmas present ideas) and although I love including them in my own practice, I practiced for years without them, in short - don’t go robbing a bank to afford all the latest props. Grab the basics if you can or get thrifty or creative with items you might already have! Look around your house and see if there’s any items that can be used to make do - I’m talking pillows, books, towels, blankets, you got this!

  • I have a favourite pose I want to learn how to do, can I make requests?

Of course! While looking a certain way, or getting into certain positions isn’t necessarily the purpose of Yoga or my Yoga classes, it’s important to have goals to help motivate you to get on your mat too, so you can experience the multitude of benefits that a well rounded Yoga practice has to offer. If there is a certain pose you want to work towards let me know, and we can discuss how to build towards it safely, while focusing on the strength or flexibility to get you there. It took me 3 years to go from being scared of being upside down and telling myself I couldn’t do it, to casually popping a headstand in the middle of a room, so I can’t guarantee it will happen overnight, but I am more than happy to show you the steps to get there, whether it’s nailing a headstand, or touching your toes, no goal is too big or small.

  • What should I wear for Yoga?

Anything you want! Anything that you can comfortably move in. Whether that’s the latest Yoga fashion/active wear, your 15 year old track pants, tights, tshirts, tank tops, crop tops, shorts, pjs, a onesie, as long as you can move easily and be comfortable that’s all that matters!
